Interview date
Monday 16th August 2010
AKA Mrs Rubbish is co-editor and publisher of the London Fashion Week Daily, the offical newspaper for LFW reveals her beauty and fashion secrets.
Do you use self tan?
Yes I do! I’m really fair skinned and love the difference it makes, especially as I get really sunburned if I try and get a natural tan.
What tanning brands do you use?
St Tropez, St Tropez, St Tropez. I love it. I tried Fake Bake but looked like an oompah.
Do you use bronzers to enhance a tan and if so which brands?
No! I have rosacea which gives me really flushed cheeks all the time, I’ve never gone near bronzers or blushers.
What make up products do you swear by?
As I have Rosacea it’s been a long journey to try and find the perfect cure. Meanwhile, it’s all about camouflaging my bright red rose and cheeks. Laura Mercier foundations and her secret camouflage are brilliant, as is her oil free primer. You have to reapply half way through the day but it is an amazing concealer. Otherwise I’m not a make up girl, so the most I’ll do is layer on a stash of mascara. I buy all my make up at Liberty as it’s so brilliant and the staff are always so knowledgeable. Right now I’m trying a new Shu Eumura Lip Gloss which looks the colour of melon in the pot, but is totally clear when it’s on. Can’t remember the mazzy I bought but it’s organic and fab!
Do you feel tanning has become more fashionable?
Tanning has always been fashionable in my lifetime, just in varying shades.
Do you think the days of the over dark tans are over?
Not necessarily. Obviously we all know the risks of sun damage, but it doesn’t stop all my mates from craving a deep, dark, tan. It makes pale girls feel sexy.
What shows are you looking forward to at this years LFW?
Gosh… too many to list! Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll and Christopher Kan are always surprising and inspiring, I loved Meadham Kirchoff last season, but you know what, I think it’s the same of all the shows and presentations at London that makes it so exciting and vibrant. The menswear shows are BRILLIANT too.
Do you have anything planned for this years London Fashion Week Daily?
Of course! but you’ll have to wait and see.
Name one makeup accessory you can’t live without?
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.
Name one fashion accessory you could not be without?
My chocolate brown Clarks desert boots [I'm a tom boy at heart]
What are you doing after this interview?
Jumping into a swimming pool naked. I’m on holiday in Andalucia with my kids and my friend Kate plus her three kids. It’s boiling.
