And has recently become Consultant to Topshop's new Make Up line". Her work backstage at London Fashion Week and on the Topshop Unique and Kate Moss for Topshop shows, she is fast becoming one of the most respected make-up artists out there" Hannah down tools to reveal her Tanning and Make up secrets.

What self tanning brands do you swear by?

St Tropez, Fake bake, Dove Summer glow (gradual tan)

What shows did you work on this LFW and what was the inspiration behind the looks?

Topshop Unique – Roxy Music/Jerry Hall/Disco girl – rich tans (thanks to James Read) glowing skin and bold cherry red lips (Topshop Daredevil) finished with 3 layers of gloss.

Micheal Van Der Ham – Fresh, modern skin teamed with a halo of sunshine (MAC’s primary yellow paint) on the eye.

Jaeger London – Layers of mascara top and bottom (inspired by my own eye make up!!) and glossy toffee lip – chic but fresh, a little 70s

You have been consulting on Topshop’s New Make Up range, tell us about it?

The exciting thing about it, other than the bold fashion led colours and textures that are found throughtout the range, is that every 6 months a new trend range is launched. Our first one was SS10 “Amazon” which was inspired by festival and included limited edition gold and silver paint sticks, glitter, metallic eye colours and glitter. AW10 “Heavy Duty” which is just out is full of pewters, deep metallics, dark lips, kohl dust among other exciting things. And SS11…you’ll just have to wait and see!

Do you think bronzers are great to enhance your look? if so why?

Bronzers, used in the right way, definitely enhance the glow to the skin. I’m more of a fan of liquid bronzers as, along with the glow it brings to the skin, it doesn’t look at all make up-y. And then a touch of powder bronzer(I love Heat by Nars or Guerlain’s) on a big brush (tap of excess product) swept under the cheekbones and into the temple. If you imagine applying in a sweeping figure of 3, you’ll create perfect contours to the face. Less is more though!

What’s the new Make up trend this season?

Although it’s probably too early to say as we’re only halfway through the SS11 shows, the 70s is the overriding theme coming through. It just feels right to gloss the lips, inject a bit of glamour and richness to the make up. But in a modern way, of course, so slightly off lip colour – Toffees, rusty oranges and Cherry…

And then, the other trend, is the freshness of pastels, laduree colours used as washes on the eyes.

I’m looking forward forward to seeing what comes out of Milan and Paris.

Do you think Self -tanning has become more Fashionable?

Definitely. Thank goodness! I’m the biggest fan of pale, tonal skin but having that summer sun-kissed glow is a great tonic and makes you feel and look healthy and glowing. And as much as we all need Vitamin D from the sun we are much more aware now of the damage it does. I’m just grateful the formulations and colours have moved on so much – fake tan got a bad name from the WAG culture a few years ago but now, fake tan, and experts like James Read, can create flawless skin finishes. And at shows, for me to have to tan 49 models by hand would be impossible!

What make-up do you recommend using when using Self- tan?

A light tinted moisturiser (Topshop Skin Tint) with a touch of bronzing gel ( I love St Tropez and Laura Mercier’s) – keep the face fresh. And then a pinky cream blusher on the apples of the cheek and I like a luminous liquid bronzer (Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess or Giorgio Armani’s fluid sheer in 3) applied to the cheekbones and temples. Heavy base is a no no – it’s all about the natural glow!

What makeup look is hot right now?

AW is definitely a bit grunge-y…deep lips, smudgy eyes – all in deep jewel tones, pewters – think the Olsens! And then, minamilst tonal make up is the other look I love – flawless creamy skin, washes of “greige” around the eyes…

What make up brands do you swear by?

Topshop (obviously!), MAC, Nars, Chanel, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, but then I have goodies I’ve picked up on my travels as well as theatrical make up I coundn’t live without. Great skincare is also a must – SK11, Decleor, Dermalogica.

If you had to pick one fashion accessory, what would it be?

A good handbag!

What are you doing after this interview?

Going to have some much needed acupuncture!

Cab or Tube?

Walking.
