Ingeborg van Lotringen, Beauty Editor of Cosmopolitan magazine reveals her top beauty and fashion secrets.

Do you use self-tan products? If so what brands do you use?

I use chanel on my face and, if anything Vita Liberata on my body as it seems to cause the least irritation. But no matter what I use on my body. I always get a degree of itchy hives on my body (much less on my face, strangely) from self-tan so I have keep use to a minimum. Shame as my natural colour is somewhere between transparent white and pale sage.

What Make up brands do you swear by?

I always come back to Estee Lauder – all my staple skincare is by them. Great research but not so active/aggressive that it gives me even more hives!

Do you feel tanning has become more fashionable?

Tanning has become more stylish. You can just look your right shade of healthy. Women are learning to be clever with self-tan.

Did you go to any shows at LFW?

No shows at all. I’d like to pretend I flounce the world hitting all the major shows but I have no time. I have 30 Cosmo pages to fill. The beauty and haircare PR’s service us with exhaustive catwalk beauty roundups so frankly, there’s no need to go.

Do you think the days of the over-dark tans are over?

There will always be a demand for it – see Cheryl on the last X factor! But a lot of women are discovering they look better with a more understated tan.

Do you have anything exciting happening that you want to share with us?

I’m waiting to find out if I can go and see Prince in Antwerp. That’s pretty exciting to me!

Name one item of makeup you can’t live without?

YSL Touche eclat, Daniel Sandler Watercolour blush, Dior or Max Factor mascara.

Name one fashion accessory you could not be without?

Jeans that make my bum look smaller.

What do you think the new beauty trend will be next year?

It’ll still be lashes and nails – the more creative, the better.

Who is the most inspirational person you have meet?

Marcelle d’Argy Smith who created Cosmo. She’s in her 80s and when I met her and said I was the beauty director, she said ‘great – what will you do next?!’She’s a powerhouse. And Prince – also a powerhouse.

What are you doing after this interview?

Sleep, I pray! Haven’t slept in months and it drives me nuts.
