The Beauty Editor of Women magazine, which has recently relaunched with a whole new look, takes time out to chat to the Tantalist. Katie shares her Tanning and beauty secrets...
Do you use self-tan products? If so what brands do you use?
Yes I tend to do the areas on show like legs and arms. I love using Xen Tan and He-Shi plus I’ve just discovered the This Works Perfect Legs Skin Miracle for an instant pick-me-up for pasty pins!
What Make up brands do you swear by?
Clinique and Estee Lauder bases, Revlon lipsticks, bareMinerals powder foundation, Lancome mascara, Givenchy blushers and Urban Decay eye products. I also love MUA for bright, fun eye pencils and shadows.
Do you feel tanning has become more fashionable?
Yes, more women of different ages are talking about tanning. It’s not just for teenagers or fashionable London ladies any more. Everyone’s doing it!
Do you think the days of the over-dark tans are over?
No people will always love dark tans but I think the days of dark orangey tans are over (well maybe not in Tinsletown!). You need the right skin tone to pull of darker tans – its all about sticking to a tan that’s right for you – dark or light.
Do you have anything exciting happening that you want to share with us?
Well I’m the new beauty editor on Women magazine which has just relaunched with a fab new glossy design and glossy celebrity covers.
Name one item of makeup you can’t live without?
Mineral powder foundation – as it covers imperfections and hides shine. A very close 2nd is lip balm.
How do you think the beauty world has changed over the last 10 years?
Its got more innovative and technology led with skin care products pushing boundaries and make-up going back to being more fun and experimental.
Name one fashion accessory you could not be without?
I’m always wearing scarves.
What do you thin the new beauty trends will be next year?
Well for A/W 2011 there are a lot of wearable trends coming through – brown is the new black, thankfully there is a return to mascara and maxi lashes, skin is dewy and 3D like, and eyes and lips monochromatic.
What do you think the tanning look will be next year?
Skin is quite pale and interesting for next season but there was a focus on contouring and highlighting the skin.

Jennifer Aniston, Sienna Miller and Cat Deeley.

Who is the most inspirational person you have meet?
The more inspirational people I know are probably my parents – they guide, inspire and listen.
What are you doing after this interview?
Sending over my copy for the next weeks deadline then attending a launch and then working on a 4 page hairstyle special.
Whats your favourite moisturiser?
I really like REN skin care products at the moment…
I you had to pick one perfume what would it be?
Ooh Touhie! I’m a big fan of A Scent by Issey Miyake and the new limited edition Neroli summer version…
