Interview date
15th September 2010
The Fashion Director of UK Vogue down tools to reveal her beauty and fashion secrets.
What Tanning Brands do you swear by?
I really like St Tropez Gradual Tan as it gives your skin a light glow as well as being a moisturiser, It never gets too tangeriny and you don’t have to be precise, which I’m not, or even very good at it, which I’m not. Also I am a big fan of Sisley Tan Extender, it makes your natural tan last longer and it’s a wonderful moisturiser, not cheap but their products are just great.
Do you feel tanning has become more fashionable?
I think tanning products have become fashionable as the intelligence on skin cancer has become greater.
Do you think of spray tan as a fashion accessory, like make-up?
I never have but now I think I might, It wasn’t something I thought of but of course, it makes much more sense then having two make up artist taking two hours to do make up on a model when this is much more pleasant, doesn’t ruin the clothes and looks ten times more realistic.
What shows are you looking forward at this years LFW?
I am really excited about Christopher Kane and Meadham Kerchoff and Burberry and Erdem and Anthony Beradi and I could go on and on and on…I love the shows in London they are really inspirational as well as being well made and beautifully produced.
Will you be going to New York, Paris and Milan?
I’m not going to New York but will be going to Milan and Paris.
Do you think its hard for young designers in the fashion industry at the Moment?
I think it’s pretty tough on everyone in fashion but things are looking more Optimistic. I do think it’s hard for the younger ones although our ‘New’ generation has been so strong for the past few seasons that they have really held up. But that is what is always extraordinary about British designers that through the struggle they manage to put on such exciting and professional shows.
What make up brands do you swear by?
I love MAC, Laura Mercier and Chanel.
If you had to pick one fashion accessory, what would it be?
That’s tough as I am mad for shoes and bags but in the end it has to be Jewellery, I have some really beautiful Marni Necklaces so it would be one of those.
What are you doing after this interview?
It feels very end of summer with the children going back to school and it’s just started to rain so I feel the need for a treat. I might go to the lovely bookshop in Nottinghill and buy something by Elizabeth Taylor, Author, not actress!I
Cab or Tube?
CAB….There’s a Tube strike on.
